Scrapbooking Heritage Albums Most scrapbookers want to create an album that shows their family heritage. The problem with these albums is to be able to find embellishments to enhance your pages. I've found that genealogies are the most challenging of all the albums I've done. I am now working with our children for me when I was a baby and the growing years, which naturally include their grandparents and other relatives. To help you with these challenges I have come up with some creative ways to make Scrapbooking Heritage Albums a little easier with some fun adornments: • Use lace and beads. You can buy these at a fabric store and they are available at some scrapbooking stores. I have used lace as a border and to frame a picture. The beads I have used on the tip itself or a picture of a tip on one side. • Take pictures of old furniture, doilies or pots and bowls. I have taken pictures of my mother's doilies that she had done, her furniture that I happened to have in my home and a pot and bowl she bought and loved. From the doil image I can make several prints and use them for a limit. • Old wallpaper design is good for background paper. • I also found a web page where you can download free pictures, and of course they have a place where you can buy pictures. I loved this website because they had old pictures from old books and etc. These can also be used for travel, especially in Europe where history is superfluous. The site is http://www.publicdomainimages.com . • Family writing is great for journaling. My mom had written several comments on the back of the photos along with the date. I scanned the handwriting of the pictures and copied everything she wrote. I then proceeded to make a fine border with decorative scissors and put them with the pictures. This is so special because it is part of my mother preserved in an album forever. • Do not prune old images. They are as amazing as they are. I made the mistake of doing it and realized right away it really took away from the picture. I hope these tips will help you create good Heritage Albums and you really enjoy doing them as much as I do, because I'm a scrapbook fanatic.
